Michael Hamilton was born in Concord, NC, April of 1984. Michael studied art while in high school and after graduation he went on to attend Piedmont Community College and Methodist University earning his degree in Fine Arts.

Michael’s greatest artistic influence is Salvador Dali.  While attending South Rowan High, in NC, Michael was introduced to the artists’ work; he was most intrigued by Dali’s work in Surrealism. Surrealists believed that the subconscious mind, such as dreams and random thoughts, held the secret to the truth. Michael expresses his admiration for surrealism in his creation “Fragile” and Humanity in Politics. Michael’s choice of medium is oil on canvas and various materials, to further his creation Michael’s work evolved from oil to mixed media. His most recent series of work is titled The Human Form, which illustrates the bond of positive and negative spaces.

After earning his degree Michael relocated to Atlanta, GA.  It was there that he attended an event hosted by the Amputee Coalition where he was amazed at the passion and determination of the amputees and the lack of exposure in which society acknowledges them. After attending the event Michael was inspired to create his mixed media creations.  It is to the amputee that he dedicates this work to.
